Chris Walla – Song Writer and Former Member of Death Cab for Cutie

Born in 1975,  Chris Walla got his start in the music world with Death Cab for Cutie in the mid-1990s following the rise of grunge and alternative rock bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and the Stone Temple Pilots.

There’s No denying that in the mid-1990’s just about everyone was walking around wearing Doc Martens and plaid shirts; guys had long hair like Eddie Veder, while girls wanted to be Courtney Love.

Chris Walla and Death Cab for Cutie excelled at making music that wasn’t just typical grunge rock or alternative, their hit songs were beautiful, emotional and a breath of fresh air for a generation that was still trying to find itself and it’s musical taste.

Quick Rise to Fame

Following the launch of Death Cab for Cutie in 1997, Chris Walla and the band toured the world while their music was played on every radio station across the Northwest and the United States.

With the rise of the internet in the late nineties, and the birth of YouTube In early 2000’s, Death Cab for Cutie’s music appealed to all generations thanks to songs like “I will possess your heart” and “Title and Registration”.

What makes Chris Walla different than most musicians who got their starts in the mid-1990s is that he actually left the band in 2014 to diversify musically, rather than continuing to live off his past success and today he’s still heavily involved in music including working on side projects and producing records at his home studio in Portland Oregon, named Alberta Court.
