Festivals

Portland has lots of fun festivals during the year but it’s also a great place to be for festivals in the fall! Here are three fall festivals that you should add to your schedule.

Each October, the Portland Fresh Hops Fest is the place to be if you’re a beer lover because it fills Oaks Amusement Park with fresh hop beers from across Oregon.

Past participants of this festival included local legends like BridgePort and Widmer Brothers, as well as regional all-stars like Eugene’s Ninkasi, Astoria’s Fort George and Bend-based Deschutes.

In the mood for another hops festival? The biggest event of its kind in the state — if not the world — the Hood River Hops Fest features over 60 fresh hop beers from dozens of breweries in the Northwest and the United States.

While you’re here you can also sample seasonal specials by Hood River locals like Double Mountain, Full Sail and pFriem Family Brewers, including a handful of fruity hop ciders. This awesome party also features live music, Willamette Valley wine, arts and crafts from local makers and a family-friendly play area.

Events

Fall in Portland also means one thing, basketball is BACK and if you’re a fan you will want to grab some Trailblazer tickets and attend a few games this season!

Besides basketball, there are also tons of other great events including:

Art – Portland Open Studios was started in the 1980’s by Portland painter Kitty Wallis. This cool citywide event takes place in the studios of painters, photographers, printmakers, jewelry designers so if you’re an artist looking for inspiration (or you hope to become one) this is the place to be!

Tours – As we get closer to Halloween, Portland is also a great place for cool ghost tours because of a city as old as Portland as a lot of history and some ghosts to go along with it right?

One of the places to visit is McMenamin’s White Eagle Saloon. Why? Here you may come across several apparitions, from a prostitute named Rose to a variety of ghosts who once were unwitting residents kidnapped via Portland’s infamous Shanghai Tunnels.

Halloween Events – Keeping with the Halloween theme, there are also tons of other great events to get you in the “spirit” to celebrate Halloween including corn maize’s, pumpkin patches and so much more!
