How Much Snow Actually Fell in Portland Oregon?

Portland Oregon Snow

By PDX People

PORTLAND, Ore.  – It’s been snowing in Portland Oregon, and when we have the white stuff on the ground we can also expect the usual effects of snow like road closures, but how much snow actually fell?

Thanks to a recent article from oregonlive.com we know that the Portland area received between a half inch, to four inches of snow, so although most reports over the last few days have labeled the storm as “massive”, the reality is that it was much more manageable than anyone thought.

How to Survive a Snow Storm in Portland

If you’re new in Portland or haven’t lived through snow conditions in a while, here are several tips you should use for surviving a snow storm.

Tip #1 – Pack chains in your vehicle, or drive with all season tires so you have plenty of traction on the roads.

Tip #2 – Purchase a windshield scraper for your vehicle; this will help you to scrape ice from your windshield in the mornings.

Tip #3 – Give yourself plenty of time before going anywhere in Portland when there’s snow on the road and you should also check local roads online to look for road closures.

Tip #4 – Change your wiper blades! This is one of the most important things you can do since it will help you to see clearly while driving in Portland and stop the snow from turning into a slushy mess on your windshield.

Tip #5 – Pack a snow “go bag” in your vehicle that includes a warm blanket, jacket, and some food or drinks just in case you get stranded and have to wait for emergency help to arrive.

Are More Snow Storms on The Way?

Winter doesn’t officially begin until next week so it’s safe to say that we can expect more snow storms to hit Portland in the coming weeks so it’s best to be prepared and ready to drive safely when the next snow storms hit.
