PORTLAND, Ore. – Winter is officially just under one month away in Portland Oregon but that doesn’t mean we won’t see some snow before the start of winter because most weather apps and weather websites are reporting that we may see some snow in Portland as early as next week.

If the thought of having a snow day next week is exciting to you (like most people) then you can get ready for what many people are affectionately referring to as “snowpocalypse” in Portland by following these simple tips.

Tip #1 – Make Sure Your Tires Are Ready For Snowpocalypse 

If you’re not currently driving around on all season tires then you should at the very least head to Les Schwab’s to make sure that the tread on your tires is ready for snow because, once the snow freezes over on the ground it’s literally going to be like driving on an ice skating rink so you should do your best to be ready for those driving conditions.

Besides making sure that your tires are ready you should also invest in a set of snow chains for your vehicle because they are easy to take on or off and should be the first line of defense for any driver who plans on being on the road during heavy snow days.

Tip #2 – Check Your Wiper Blades

There’s nothing worse than driving when it’s snowing in Portland Oregon only to realize that your wiper blades are not brushing the snow off your windshield like they should. This is why you should head over to your favorite auto parts store now and buy a new set of wiper blades just so you can confidently driving when it’s snowing without the snow obstructing your vision.

Tip #3 – Check Your Heater

Last of all, but most important, check the heater in your vehicle to confirm that it still works because, once we start having days that are in the 20’s and 30’s you will want to drive in a warm vehicle instead of an ice cold car or truck.

Remember that when it comes to technology, and the weather in general, it’s possible we may not see any snow next week but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to snow at all this winter so it’s always better to play it safe than to be sorry when a snowy day does arrive in Portland.
