If you’re a fan of stand-up comedy, then you will be familiar with Ronald Kyle Funches because he’s been at comedy clubs across the United States for years and he’s been able to successfully transition from stand-up comedy into starring on a wide variety of television shows and movies.

Funches started his comedy career in Portland in the early 2000s, appearing on stages in the PDX area where his act caught the eye of television producers and he was invited to appear in episodes of locally filmed television shows like Portlandia.

Ronald Kyle Funches Started His Career On Portlandia

His success on Portlandia opened the door to a career in Hollywood and he ended up moving to Los Angeles where he would star in a wide variety of television shows on Comedy Central and he would eventually break into voice acting.

His voice acting credits include hits like Adventure Time, Trolls, Harley Quinn, and the adventures of Puss in Boots.

What’s great Ronald Kyle Fuches is that besides being a talented comedian and voice actor, he’s also a writer too and he’s written for shows like The Eric Andre Show.

Influenced By Lucille Ball

In a recent interview, Funches talked about the influences on his career and he cited Lucille Ball as being one of the top comedians who has shaped his comedy and ideology over the years.

I Love Lucy was kind of my introduction to the world of comedy in general. And when you look at the history of Lucille Ball, and the work that she did for women in Hollywood, having her own production company, and also showing an interracial marriage on TV in the ’50s, to me, she’s just one of my biggest influences overall as a human being. That’s what it means to be a professional and what it means to stand up for yourself.”

Besides Lucille Ball, Funches also cited Dave Chappelle as one of these top comedy influences and it’s easy to see why since Dave Chappelle’s “Chappelle Show” was one of the top comedies shows of the early 2000s and reruns of the show are still airing today.

In 2020, Fuches lives in Los Angles with his fiancé and son. His career is busier than ever before as he’s been a frequent guest on late-night TV talk shows and has continued his voice animation work including appearing in several upcoming animated films.
